Influenza
In 2016- 2019, the adaptation and implementation of the Quick Check+ training in Nepal was part of their Pandemic Influenza Preparedness (PIP), within a broader effort to improve management of emergencies and priority epidemic-prone diseases. PIP funding also supported the development of the WHO SEARO IMAI SARI tools. During the H1N1 pandemic, the need for guidance on the management of adults with severe respiratory distress and septic shock complicating influenza at district hospitals without an ICU was evident. As these sections in the WHO IMAI District Clinician Manual were completed, guidance was extracted into an influenza extract, to prepare district hospital clinical teams for pandemic 2009 H1N1 influenza.
The Nepal and SEARO IMAI District Clinician Manuals and their Quick Check+ training programs were updated to the latest WHO influenza case management guidelines (as well as those for MERS CoV and COVID-19).
